Computer Forum / Re: Portable Software VS Regular Software
« on: March 04, 2008, 05:37:04 AM »
True portable applications have the unique feature of being executed on portable media.

If it lacks features that the original had, or is missing functionality that the original program had then you are using a bogus program!

So please do not destroy the true meaning of Portable Applications based off some lame programs you have tried and failed.

The new rage of popularity is going to cause a lot of nubs to try and develop their favorite programs into "portable applications" even tho most of them released into the wild are total ~I'm an idiot with no life~. (or work great on their machine) Most of these people lack the proper platform and computability testing needed to release any good software, portable or not.

A good example would be surfing through this forum and finding a lot of worthless portable applications. Which in turn you could not even compare to software on

Of course Yahoo!'s IM is going to beat Google Talk, it hasn't even been out for nearly as long.... But can you state at least ANY details as to why it's a better search engine, why the im is better, why the mail is better, etc...

Firefox. I used Opera before, and it's slower, and it really gets on my nerves. It wants to do this, but I want to do something else.

Great debate indeed.

I appreciate the links to http://howtogeek.com/tag/windows-vista/

Keep on arguing......???sp??? I learn so much from these

thank you

No actually I'm tired of this so I will finish with a quote from Bill Gates the evangelist of Microsoft.

Bill Gates wrote:

Microsoft aims it's software to the general public not the geek sector, if you are disappointed about vista and can't do anything about it stop complaining. I won't recommend you to use Linux as you couldn't even fix some small problems in vista but we all know you will then you will go back to windows and still send hatemail to me on vista.

General Marketing / Re: Email -Spam - Marketing ?
« on: January 14, 2008, 07:03:18 AM »
I was also thinking of sending emails to promote my site. I was although going to include the price for the premium listing, as well as the option for the free listing in my email.

Chloe - would opting out be a simple "please reply to remove@mydomainname.com
and write "please remove me from your list" to never receive emails from us again."??  ???

This was a big part of my marketing plan, and it seems like there must be a way around it. ;) I mean - I receive junk mail everyday, cold calls from people trying to sell me stuff too everyday, there must be a legal way to promote my directory by suggesting it to a company that has a website and contact information on it?

Reema - how did you make out??

General Chat / Re: You use 1 password or many?
« on: January 06, 2008, 05:57:43 AM »
I actually use many passwords.
1 - Same for all important emails.
1- Same for Blogs
1 - For PakAdTrader

If something gets phished or hijacked and my email is provided and I used the same password for that as I do for a blog/forum then they can now view my email.

Computer Forum / Re: What's the safest internet browser?
« on: December 25, 2007, 12:37:22 PM »
safari isnt that good, its to slow, an when downloading sttn, or u visit a site that has download links for adds or sttn,

it auto downloads em without asking u if u want em,

firefox is much faster, safer an easier to use,

ie is to slow, laggy, an sucks anyway,

opera, ive neva tryed sooo, im gonna go test :O

xD

just take primframs advice, it dont matter what browser u use, as long as u have a good firewall an av

(except safari)
but wid safari, it download stuff without asking, but it neva stores em, always ses potentially harmful program, xD

an dont store it

soooooo up to u, good firewall an av,

an is fine then
