I am new to forum posting. if i reply to no. of threads and post a new thread,then due to signature i get a backlink.

Of course, it is valid but you should follow some rules and regulation imposed by that forum.

You shouldn't stop at this technique only - it can be effective to receive backlinks from do-follow blogs and directories, for example.

It is possible to get multiple backlink from the forum and still if you want good result you can try to choose forums that have high PR indicating highly trusted site for Google.

Yes it is valid. Google consider any websites in page by page. Each pages has a specific rank in Google's point of view. So it is better have links from multiple pages of a forum.

Of course, even better to have links to various forums and other sites, the more the better (thus making a good link juice) ...

Building backlinks from forums is not only valid, but also the most commonly used method to build quality and important inbound links and gain popularity and visibility in the search engines. They certainly have to be quality post, they have to contribute to the community (no posts like "Thanks", "Good work" and such comments consisting of 1 or 2 words).
The more quality comments a member has posted, the better reputation thus more credibility will he/she have. People tend to click on the signatures of such members, not just out of curiosity, but interest also.

There is no problem using multiple links from a website. This is the way that everyon is doing. The only think you have to remember is that each forum has it own rules. Their is might be a problem with the forum adminstrator. Many forums dont allow the urls for link. You have to read the forums rules.

Number of links in the signature depends of the forums rules.
Some forums allow only one link in the signature and two lines of text.
Some forums allow the more links in your signature.
I think that many links from one page to another page worth the same as a one link.
