Is ATOM better than RSS? I have also heard that ATOM is going to replace RSS2.0

Atom is better than RSS as it is more standardize, ATOM may replace RSS sooner or later, I feel ATOM is made keeping in mind the loop holes of RSS specifications.

RSS is a copyrighted by Harward University and very much closed in nature, which implied new standards for future use like Atom. Atom specification (1.0) is compiled by a group within The Internet Engineering Task Force. more details can be found at http://www.ietf.org/html.charters/atompub-charter.html .

ATOM is mainly built by a group of people unhappy with RSS. They are unhappy with the format of the RSS and also some people have the idea that they are unhappy with the person who has created the RSS.

There are more differences like Atom 1.0 is in an XML namespace while RSS 2.0 is not. Atom 1.0 content may be explicitly labeled as well-formed, displayable XHTML markup.

One more difference is the content element.RSS 2.0 has a “description” element which is used for both a summary and full content while Atom 1.0 has a "summary" and "content" element separately

Hello friends!!
I have no doubt on these well feedback. Is there a need for both an RSS and Atom feed on a website, or an argument to use one over the other? I have both on my website, but from what I can tell on Firefox live bookmarks, they basically do the same thing.
