Server Administration / Hostbill or WHMCS with Onapp ?
« on: April 05, 2012, 03:03:00 PM »

Hostbill and WHMCS are two of the best billing software's available for webhosts. In Onapp website they says both are good. I searched google for a solution, but was not able to find it anywhere. Everywhere it says both are good. What do you guys think, which one will work better with Onapp ?

I have a question
in my country 99% of web masters do not know what cpanel is!
they hardly have any other way of controling things
they use ssh or telnet or ftp and send a support request

now my question how many percentage of hosting companies in the world do not provide cpanel?

And if you as a host do not provide cpanel how should you expalin that to the client?

Is cpanel really necessary?

Web Hosting / Information About Shared Web Hosting
« on: April 05, 2012, 02:58:07 PM »
When you are searching for reliable, affordable and good web hosting plans, then the good choice is shared web hosting. It is a common server sharing by many customers. When you share the common server with others, the web hosting providers will provide their service at cheap price. This kind of web hosting is gaining popularity in the market. It is also highly hard to find the web hosting solution provider today. The shared web hosting is shared by many clients and therefore there should be a requirement for good administration. The reason for asking administration is the common server is shared by many people. Hence there are plenty of possibilities for loss of important data, collision and certain protection issues.

Google / Re: What is Google Sandbox?
« on: April 05, 2012, 02:55:08 PM »
I think the Google sandbox is a made up thing to try to scare website owners to not use black hat techniques. Which you shouldn't anyways because Google is constantly changing their system to stop such sites.

Google / Re: What is your favorite Google Chrome extensions?
« on: April 05, 2012, 02:30:20 PM »
Chromium Oxide (CrO3) lets you navigate Google Search results and other popular pages using keyboard. And also fixes some errors in some pages.
You can install CrO3 here. Link to complete feature spec is also on the same page.

Google / Re: why google is most famous search engine?
« on: April 05, 2012, 02:26:28 PM »
The thing is.. Google is an Icon. It is part of our society and our culture now, think about it. You see Google in movies, you see Google on tv, you hear kids talking about Google, you hear radio personalities talking about Google. You never hear "Yeah just look up ____ on yahoo" "I found it on Bing" "Just type ___ in Bing".. No.. Google is very much a part of our vocabulary. It will be around as the big dog for a long time to come.

yes true indeed whenever the server allows fxp
but if it's not, you can just use net2ftp to do this
it's a handy little script that acts like an ftp client thru browser

Server Administration / Re: Best of Fantastico?
« on: April 05, 2012, 02:23:45 PM »
Wordpress for blogs, Joomla for CMS. It all depends on what you want to do and how updated Fantastico really is.

Server Administration / Re: Which free ftp client is the best?
« on: April 05, 2012, 02:22:17 PM »
I do use FileZilla client for my website's FTP and found no difficulties or problems with it. Not a problem, you can try alternative client i.e. core ftp

Domain Names / Re: Park or Minisite?
« on: April 03, 2012, 05:14:56 PM »
If it has a decent amount of visitors I would develop a mini site. I think you may turn more profit that way.

Domain Names / Re: .com vs .info
« on: April 03, 2012, 05:13:54 PM »
Frankly speaking, firstly we should prefer .com domain but if .com domain is not available than we can go with other extensions.

Domain Names / Re: GoDaddy vs Namecheap
« on: April 03, 2012, 05:11:11 PM »
i prefer to use namecheap over godaddy anytime because godaddy supports SOPA and that takes our freedom on the internet. why would we ever want that? i know a lot of people transferred out their domains because they were supporters of SOPA.
