Should I do it?
« on: April 04, 2008, 01:06:57 PM »
I need to learn how to program dynamic sites.  Should I learn CF or PHP?  I have CF 8 Developer version.  Does that mean I can design sites with it for free?  What is the best way to learn CF?
Thanks

With dynamic web sites, requests for pages are a bit more complicated. For each request, the page (the HTML) is constructed from information stored in files (such as images), information stored in databases (textual content) and programming logic.

Hey I just signed up for the first time this week.

Sorry for asking, but I was wondering if anyone could point me to any particularly important threads that I should read first, so I can get up to speed here?

Thanks Mike Gladstone

First you should know what is ColdFusion? is a commercial rapid application development platform invented by Jeremy and JJ Allaire in 1995. Originally designed to make it easier to connect simple HTML pages to a database, by version 2 it had become a full platform that included an IDE in addition to a full Scripting Language. Current versions of ColdFusion, sold by Adobe Systems, include advanced features for enterprise integration and development of rich internet applications. ColdFusion primarily competes with PHP and ASP.
